17 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Jericho

8. He Was Originally A Part Of WrestleMania 2000 Main Event

WWE.comWWE.comThis is a story that Jericho told in his second book titled "Undisputed" about how he was going to be a part of the WrestleMania 2000 (16) main event. Prior to WrestleMania 2000, Jericho appeared in the promotional materials for the biggest show of the year. It was out there. A lot of people saw it. The other three people on the posters were Triple H, The Rock and The Big Show. Those three went on to headline WrestleMania that year although Jericho's spot was taken by Mick Foley even though he retired a month earlier. Mick was asked to do it and it would have been foolish for him to turn down a big payday. WWE.comWWE.comHe ended up getting put in a three way match for the Intercontinental and European Title with Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. Considering the caliber of workers in the match it should have been amazing, but it ended up being average as Jericho admitted himself. Jericho had to wait over a full year to main event a PPV, which was King of the Ring 2001. After that it became a more regular occurrence for him.
