17 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Jericho

7. He Got Into A Backstage Altercation With Goldberg That He Won

Chris Jericho And Goldberg It's one of those stories that makes you proud to be a Jericho fan because he stood up to a guy much bigger than him. When Jericho was in WCW with Goldberg he was doing all kinds of promos trying to start a feud with him, but Goldberg refused it because he felt like Jericho was too small. Keep in mind that Goldberg had only been wrestling for a couple of years by that point and Jericho was a veteran, yet he was shooting him down. It was ridiculous. By the time Goldberg got to WWE, Jericho was an established guy there. He was known as one of the best performers in the world. Goldberg was still pretty new in WWE at the time, so he was still getting used to things in his new environment. The altercation took place on the April 7, 2003 edition of Raw. Goldberg was apparently badmouthing Jericho to somebody in the locker room while Jericho was in the ring. It was overheard by others and when Jericho returned to the locker room he was made aware of what happened. Jericho confronted Goldberg about the remark he made and the situation became physical. Jericho put Goldberg in a front facelock and held him there until the two were separated by wrestlers and agents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4Wh-lIOFWk Recently, Jericho tweeted that the whole thing wasn't a big deal and that the two guys became friends a long time ago. He probably got sick of talking about it especially since he became close with Goldberg. That's understandable. They ended up feuding on TV a few months after this. They didn't have any problems, but WWE didn't mention their real backstage fight as a way to sell what they were doing on TV.
