17 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Jericho

15. He Had Mr. Hughes As A Bodyguard And It Flopped

WWE.comWWE.comOne of the things that makes Jericho unique in wrestling is that for the most part he's considered a loner. He was never really a part of stables. He was in tag teams, but it's not like that was his main thing. He teamed up with guys like Chris Benoit, Christian, Edge and Big Show at various point for the sake of a storyline although Jericho has always been his own man in WWE. For whatever reason, WWE felt like they should give him a bodyguard soon after his debut in August of 1999. They figured that if he was hiding behind somebody else it would make him come off as more of a cowardly heel. They put Mr. Hughes with him although he was gone within a few weeks. It just wasn't the right fit. This was also around the same time period when he had Howard Finkel as his lackey for a few weeks. Needless to say, WWE really struggled to book Jericho the right way in his debut year.
