Sean Waltman debuted with the WWF the night after Wrestlemania 9 in a dark match, getting his big break in May when he upset Razor Ramon. The 1-2-3 Kid, as he came to be known, was all set to work at Wrestlemania 10 until Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels’s ladder match ran over time, kicking the Kid and nine other men off the card. At least he got to celebrate in the ring with Bret Hart at the end of the night.

The next year, Kid was relegated to being the cornerman for his buddy Razor Ramon (the same one who knocked him off Mania the year before) in a match against Jeff Jarrett. And the year after that, the 60-minute Iron Man match meant that only 16 men were booked on the three-hour show. Waltman wasn’t one of them.

Waltman was competing for WCW as Syxx when the WWF put on Wrestlemania 13 in 1997, and in 1998, Waltman returned to the WWF the night after Wrestlemania 14. One year later, “X-Pac” finally wrestled on the big stage, having missed five Manias along the way, but lost to the boss’s son. Waltman would lose again the following year in a tag team match, bringing his overall Wrestlemania record to 0-2.
