9. EC3 Talks About Choose Your Own Adventure Books

When JB was interviewing EC3 backstage ahead of his World Title match against Matt Hardy later in the show, Carter went off on a bizarre but memorable tirade about choose-your-own-adventure books. He said, "When I was growing up, I loved stories, and in fact one story book stood out to me, the Hardy Boys' Mysteries. I never read it because I thought the name was stupid, I was actually more partial to choosing my own adventure, and tonight, Matt and Jeff have chosen their own adventure. If Matt Hardy defeats me, he becomes champion, but if I defeat Matt, well, the adventure truly starts. But, let's skip ahead of this novel a little bit, let's go to page 131 and read about it." In a bizarre, old man narrator's voice, EC3 then reads, "There he lay, Matt Hardy, beaten, broken. humiliated, and defeated. He tried and tried and tried again, but he lest went against a man possessed, a man in God Mode. They said Matt Hardy will never die, but his aspirations for the World Title did at the hands of EC3. Your adventure ends here, Matt." And yes, that confusion on JB's face is surely shared by most of the audience...
