Ain't that a kick in the head?!

Daniel Bryan turning on Shane McMahon will not only logically pay off a tension that wasn't ever really resolved by an awkward hug on the go-home edition of SmackDown Live!, but also set about completely reframing Bryan's character over the summer months on a show spearheaded by either AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura as a beloved babyface champion.

Bryan's beef with even being an authority figure could be traced back to Shane's selection of him in the first place. Returning from injury wasn't about fighting for his dreams, but fighting to make 'Shane-O-Mac's life a nightmare in the way he has his for the better part of two years.

The turn will carry with it some symmetry to how Sami Zayn himself joined the dark side. Beaten within touching distance of permanent injury by Kevin Owens just weeks earlier was an awakening for the former 'Underdog From The Undergound'. The brutal assault Daniel Bryan suffered three weeks ago may have rattled his fragile bonce but it also rattled his cage as an angry, mentally unstable monster. Gifting victory to Zayn and Owens will serve as the ultimate revenge act on his bewildered boss.
