18 Most Underrated Storylines In WrestleMania History

2. Chris Jericho Vs. Christian - WrestleMania XX

Chris Jericho's budding relationship with Trish Stratus was one of the most intriguing storylines of late 2003, and the jealousy of best friend Christian only intensified the interest. After surviving a poor decision to make a bet over who could bed their chosen Diva first, Jericho and Stratus continued to see each other. Christian was noticeably upset that the Diva of the Decade was stealing the attention of his amigo. With Jericho out of the building, Christian assaulted Stratus, nearly taking her head off with a vicious clothesline. From there, he trapped her in the Walls of Jericho, a message sent loud and clear to Y2J. It was the disintegration of a years-long program in a single night. Jericho returned completely enraged in order to defend his girlfriend's honor and unleash his fury on Captain Charisma. At WrestleMania XX in March 2004 they would wage war in a match that would have stolen the show, had it taken place on any other card. Christian won in controversial fashion and Stratus betrayed Jericho in the most obvious plot twist ever, but that did not derail all of the work done to tell a captivating story ahead of the bout.
