10. Virgil Vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase - WrestleMania VII
For years, Virgil was the man servant for "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. He did everything his employer told him, all for the sake of the almighty dollar. But as 1991 arrived, the once-proud man had grown tired of waiting on DiBiase hand and foot. Some wise input from "Rowdy" Roddy Piper only helped plant the seeds for his stand. At the Royal Rumble in January, Virgil had enough. After years of being spoken down to and treated as less-than human, he blasted DiBiase with the Million Dollar Championship belt to a raucous ovation. Virgil spent the next two months standing up for himself and learning to fight under the guidance of Piper, who was a central figure in the story. Then, at WrestleMania, Virgil defeated his old boss via countout in one of the biggest upsets in forever. Not a particularly long build or anything, it nevertheless captured the imaginations of fans who wished they could stand up for themselves in the face of an oppressive employer, or even wanted to knock him or her down a peg or two inside the squared circle.
