18 Most Underrated Storylines In WrestleMania History

9. Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie Vs. New Age Outlaws - WrestleMania XIV

The New Age Outlaws were among the hottest acts in wrestling in 1998, making a name for themselves by beating down the Legion of Doom and nearly putting an end to Mick Foley's 'Dude Love' persona. It was that assault on the Hardcore Legend that infuriated Foley and forced him to seek out assistance in his battle with Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. That help came in the form of Terry "Chainsaw Charlie" Funk. But Foley and Funk had their own issues dating back years and, on one memorable episode of Raw, they battled in a hardcore match that led to both ending up on the Raw stage trapped in a dumpster. Dogg and Gunn, seeing an opportunity, locked their rivals in the dumpster and sent them crashing off the stage in a sickening moment that left fans seriously wondering about the health of the popular duo. Foley, now competing under the Cactus Jack persona, and Funk soon returned and the first-ever Dumpster match was announced for WrestleMania. The arrogant Outlaws may have held the upper hand earlier in the program but as the biggest show of the year arrived, nervousness and fear set in as Jack had promised to tear them apart. The match in Boston was brutal, violent and chaotic, ending when Jack and Funk seemingly won the tag titles. Until they didn't. But that is a story for another time and, as far as buildup is concerned, this had one of the most underrated in 'Mania history.
