In 1995, King Mabel quite literally broke The Undertaker's face. It meant that Mark Calaway had to miss ring time, during the desperate days when Vince McMahon really couldn't afford to lose superstars. As a result, a safety mask was created to protect Calaway's face, and he was rushed back to action as quickly possible.
