Even though he was signed to a developmental deal with WWE, Kenny's goal was always to end up in Japan. Omega claims he went to developmental wishing he was in Japan or at the very least, having experienced life in the Far East first.

Kenny actually entered a competition where the winners would be placed in a Japanese dojo. As a surprise, however, Johnny Ace (John Laurinaitis) turned up to the camp where the competition was taking place and announced that one person there would be awarded with a WWE contract. 'The Cleaner' won, and at the time believed he would have been crazy to turn it down.

Kenny goes on to say that he went into his stint with WWE with the right intentions but questioned whether he was mature enough. He claims he loved the artistic side of professional wrestling but didn't like the business side. He loved getting in the ring and expressing himself, not doing something somebody else was telling him to do.

Kenny claims that any attempt to show his own character was met by somebody telling him why it didn't make any sense. He admits that while he didn't start to lose confidence in himself, he did start to lose confidence in the system.
