...as of writing, anyway.

After an iconic return at the Survivor Series, the eyes of the world turned to Monday Night Raw to see what the best orator in the game would say about the most unlikely of comeback stories. For the most part, they didn't really get what they came for.

Punk called WWE "home" and barely strayed from a fairly pedestrian rah-rah speech before generating a chant of his name and dropping the microphone before sardonically noting he was there to make money, not friends.

It left more questions than answers, which helps from an episodic point of view and does at least suggest it was Night One of a brand new story. But was it the right night for that? There's nothing inherently wrong with Punk stepping right back into character, but it created quite the whiplash effect from everything everybody has seen and heard of The Punker since he was fired from AEW in the summer.
