17. He Replaced Jerry Lawler At Survivor Series 1993 Due To Lawler's Rape Charges
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atDEbd_oXcA When WWE did Survivor Series events in the late 1980s and early 1990s they always tried to think of creative ways to come up with their teams. At Survivor Series 1993, they had built up a storyline where Jerry Lawler and his three knights would take on Bret Hart and three of his brothers, including Owen. That match never took place due to legal issues involving Lawler. In the weeks prior to Survivor Series 1993, Lawler was being charged for allegedly raping a 15 year old girl. The charges ended up being dropped and Lawler returned soon after. There are stories out there that the whole thing may have been a lie set up by other wrestlers that Lawler owed money to, but there was no way of proving it. Since Lawler couldn't wrestle in the match, Michaels took his place. At the time Michaels was a singles heel, but he really had no storyline going on. He teamed up with three knights. The red knight was Barry Horowitz, the blue knight was Greg Valentine and the black knight was Jeff Gaylord. The Hart Brothers ended up winning with Owen being the only one eliminated, which was the start of his huge storyline in 1994 against his brother Bret.
