2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 16 - Results & Review)

3. What Was The Point?

Dustin Rhodes Ross Marshall Von Erich
AEW

According to AEW, this was the first time a member of the Rhodes family has teamed up with the Von Erich clan since 1982. A quick search reveals that Dusty teamed with David Von Erich back on NWA turf in late-June '82, so AEW gets some bonus points for attention to detail if nothing else.

This segment doesn't get an 'Up', however.

Dustin, Ross and Marshall won a two-minute squash over some enhancement workers, but you'd think they'd lifted the Trios Titles after some gruelling 30-minute classic to hear All Elite's announce squad. If this leads to a Trios Titles tilt, fair enough, but the match itself was a useless addition to Rampage.

The 'C' show's topsy turvy relationship with squash matches rolls on, people. Some work out well, but it honestly depends on who's doing the squashing. Did Dustin and the Von Erich young team really need this? They'd be better-served looking workmanlike rather than dominant.
