2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 2 - Results & Review)

This CMLL invasion of AEW is just Tony Khan's latest waste of your time. Sorry.

Celebrating the variety pro wrestling has to offer is one thing. Booking an assortment of CMLL workers to "invade" your programming as the latest attempt at a boring quick fix is another. That's exactly what Tony Khan is doing with the Mexican contingent. Sorry, but it's true.

It'd be a major surprise if this actually led to anything that has long-term impact.

AEW has a habit of doing this. It's flavour of the month booking, and it repeatedly fails to grow the audience. In fact, that TV audience is shrinking, and there's just no way penning some CMLL vs. AEW matches is going to halt that slide. From MJF's multi-layered story with 'The Devil'/Adam Cole to this.

Speaking of Cole, his new Undisputed Kingdom faction is already a struggle. Injuries haven't helped anyone there, but they need to do something better than kicking around on Rampage bickering with Best Friends. That was just one of many 'Downs' from this week's show.

A pair of energetic tag bouts did lift spirits, but there's so much wrong with All Elite's output right now. If this is an indication of how 2024 is going to go, then it's gonna be a loooooong year.

Here's everything you need to know from Friday!
