2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 2 - Results & Review)

1. The CMLL Stuff Just Isn’t Compelling

Four workers from CMLL have gatecrashed AEW for...reasons. Sure, why not? Why have a carefully told, emotionally-compelling story when you can just barf more new faces onto TV and pretend it's storytelling, right? Man, would anyone complaining please go do some homework?! It isn't All Elite's job to make you care.

That's what those defending this would say.

The truth is that TK's CMLL invasion is painfully uninteresting. You also know the Mexican crew will be gone a month or so from now at best (probably right after Revolution), so there's no long-term benefit to booking any of this. It's more random, easy-to-forget AEW content for the sake of it.

Tony Schiavone and Excalibur can call Rampage's headliner "sensational" all they like. That's their job, but AEW's product is pretty lifeless right now and this is why. It'd be lovely if the CMLL invaders actually spelled out their intentions or mission statement, eh?

Like, why are you guys here and why should fans care?
