2 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 7)

3. An Off Night

It's always depressing when iconic announcing great Jim Ross has an off night.

Sadly, he very-much did on Friday (at least during the Rampage portion). Firstly, JR questioned Excalibur's call about Hook hitting a Twist Of Fate on Ethan Page. Ross called it a DDT, then admitted he was wrong upon realising that the move was supposed to play into the story involving one Matt Hardy and The Firm.

Later, he remarked that Darby Allin's tattoo said "Reckless", and went off on a rant about it. Again, Excalibur corrected the legend and noted that ink actually says "Relentless". Tony Schiavone, bless him, tried to cover for that by saying Darbs is both reckless and relentless.

Everyone loves JR, but he had an off night here. That's poor timing, not least when Paul Wight earned praise for his own commentary performance when joining the desk as a guest a few weeks back. Man, it sucks so much to hear one of the best ever struggling to stay abreast with the product.
