20 Absolute Best Wrestlers In The World Right Now
17. Charlotte Flair
WWE made such a hilarious mess of Charlotte Flair's character leading up to and in the aftermath of SummerSlam 2018 that the internet was flooded with "female Roman Reigns" comparisons whenever her name was mentioned. The insinuation was that she'd become an infallible company Golden Girl to be pushed at the expense of more popular performers (read: Becky Lynch) ad nauseam, but these arguments have since been eradicated by a combination of Flair's own stunning in-ring performances and WWE creative's adjustments.
Turned from ineffective babyface to piece-of-sh*t heel, Charlotte is back in her most comfortable role. She's a tremendous villainess, and with Lynch hogging all the pops for herself on SmackDown, Flair can't realistically play anything else at the moment. Everything works better when she's the bad girl, from her natural arrogance to the nasty undercurrent present in her ring-work, and where Charlotte once looked like a potential X-Pac heat recipient, she has become one of WWE's most consistent performers once more.
Speaking of ring-work, it's no coincidence that Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Asuka all had their best one-on-one matches of 2018 with 'The Queen.' She isn't perfect, but she's absolutely among the best in the world.
