20 Absolute Best Wrestlers In The World Right Now

14. Asuka

WWE came within a hair of botching Asuka's main roster arrival.

The Emma bouts were needlessly competitive, particularly as the talented Aussie was released within seven days of their first match, and presented 'The Empress Of Tomorrow' as just another face on the roster. Fortunately, WWE righted their course shortly after. Asuka was the deciding factor at Survivor Series, where she single-handedly dispatched three members of the SmackDown side, and now looks strong going into the women's Royal Rumble, for which she is a heavy betting favourite.

Regardless of booking, Asuka is comfortably the most interesting women's wrestler in WWE at the moment. Her presence is unmatched, the gimmick is perfect, and her ruthless, head-hunting wrestling style is always a compelling watch. August's clash with Ember Moon ranks among the best bouts the Women's Revolution has ever produced, and it surely won't be long before Asuka replaces Alexa Bliss as her division's figurehead.

Some may use her lack of English promos as a black mark, but this works to Asuka's character. The fact that she rarely speaks prevents overexposure, protects her aura, and keeps her special, ensuring her viability as a top-level star for a long time to come.
