20 Best TNA Wrestlers Ever

17. Awesome Kong

Looking back on Kong’s TNA career, you can recall the great moments, but it’s a shame that things played out the way they did and that we didn't get more of them.

Kong’s introduction to the company was one of the most effective debuts TNA has ever booked. She arrived. She squashed. She conquered. No woman was booked as her equal, and she easily ran through the entire division, until her great series of matches with Gail Kim.

Unfortunately, the Knockouts were pushed to the side during the Hogan and Bischoff era, and Kong was one of the biggest victims. Not only was her on-screen character scaled back, but she found herself in a backstage scuffle with one of Hogan’s favorite cronies (though not anymore) in Bubba The Love Sponge. She left the company, and by the time she returned she was a shell of what she once was in the ring due to injuries. She was decent, but no longer explosive, and her mystique was long gone.

Had Kim and Kong remained under contract with TNA throughout their entire run, and pushed as main event talent...then Impact would likely be in a far more positive place than it is right now.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
