One of the best opening WrestleMania matches of all time, Triple H vs Daniel Bryan was never meant to be at all.

Following the return of Batista, WWE were keen to move Bryan away from the main event to make way for an Evolution WrestleMania. The crowd were having none of it and forced the American Dragon into the title picture. The Authority would grant Bryan a title bout but only if he could beat the Game first.

Triple H has been known to give his all going up against technical wizards like Daniel Bryan, and here is certainly no exception, with Hunter relying on big power moves and Bryan focusing on his astute wrestling know-how. The two men had the crowd hanging off of every move, including the Cerebral Assassin trying to tap out Bryan with his own submission moves. Daniel's previously injured arm was a prime target and something that was worked upon throughout.

Daniel Bryan would eventually earn a clean pinfall victory following an incredible back and forth in the final stretch, catching the Game with a running knee for the 1-2-3. Once again proving that Triple H does some of his best work when putting others over, he made Bryan look as worthy as any other big-man to take on the main event.
