20 Best Triple H Wrestling Matches Ever

7. Vs. The Rock - Backlash 2000

Royal Rumble 2002 Triple H Steve Austin

WrestleMania 2000 will go down as the biggest missed opportunities as the over-booking was almost to the point of parody, most notably in the main event where it was a Fatal 4-Way with a McMahon in every corner. The following Backlash PPV gave us the main event and the result we should have gotten.

At WrestleMania, Mr. McMahon betrayed The Rock and allied himself with Triple H and daughter Stephanie, bringing McMahons and D-Generation X together. To even the odds, Rock chose Stone Cold Steve Austin to be in his corner, though at the event, Austin did not initially appear.

The match began completely in Triple H and the McMahons' favour. With Shane McMahon as the special referee, he refused the begin a 10 count while he was outside the ring, and Vince interfered with weapon shots until Rock disposed of them both through the announce table. Even then, McMahon's stooges were there to give Triple H every advantage. He could easily do the work himself, but the whole McMahon clan were there to ensure the King of Kings got his victory.

Then the glass smashed as the Texas Rattlesnake made his entrance, steel chair in hand and laying waste to everyone in his path, allowing Rock to win the match following the People's Elbow. Triple H as a heel is definitive Triple H, and his heel work was no better than this night.
