16. Nikki Cross

Aside from Asuka and Ember Moon, Sanity’s Nikki Cross has been the NXT women’s division’s biggest highlight in 2017. A remarkable achievement, given that she was lumbered with one of the company’s most cringeworthy gimmicks upon arrival, but the Scot has owned it. “Crazy” personas usual spell disaster for those saddled with them, but not Cross, who has taken the creative team’s lemons and made lemonade, becoming NXT’s most distinct personality in the process.

Cross is as strong as any of her peers in the ring. Her gimmick prevents her from showcasing her technical prowess, but she has developed into an excellent, frantic brawler, and while she hasn’t been given many spotlighted matches this year, she has looked excellent when called upon.

So far, Nikki's best moment is her Last Woman Standing match with Asuka. One of the strongest WWE women’s matches of the year, it could easily have devolved into a spotty, garbage brawl, but their skill transcended the stipulation’s tropes and restrictions. With Asuka gone, Cross should now have the opportunity to climb the ladder in her current division, though she’d be an immediate boon to Raw or SmackDown, if called up.
