JBL loves to bring up this particular elimination. At the 1997 Rumble, luchador legend Mil Mascaras was a surprise entrant in the match itself. He lasted a respectable total of 7 minutes and 28 seconds - much longer than most guest entrants - but was eliminated in particularly embarrassing fashion. There's no way around this; Mil Mascaras eliminated himself. It's unclear whether this was part of the plan, designed to highlight the differences between Mexican and American wrestling, or a genuine error by Mascaras - but it certainly looks damn funny/
