There's probably never been a more hyped debut in the history of the business than Glacier. Vignettes and promos aired for months and months touting that "Blood Runs Cold" and driving anticipation through the roof. Fans were expecting a game-changer, someone who would be the next big superstar for WCW. Instead, what we got was journeyman wrestler Ray Lloyd dressed as Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. WCW blew through a ton of money to create Glacier, from separate set designs and lazers to costumes and videos, and the character immediately thawed out into a puddle of disappointment. It was unbelievably corny, even by pro wrestling standards, and not even a year-long undefeated streak could salvage Glacier. WCW's ambitious idea to create a wrestler that could have an entire merchandise line behind him was dead in the water.
