20 Most Cringe-Worthy Gimmicks In WCW History

13. The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea

There was a rumour that The Wrestler Known In Reality As Mike Hayner was having an affair with the wife of a high level WCW executive, and that that's what led to his maintaining his spot in the company. You would think it would have the opposite effect, but regardless, Iaukea was a constant presence on the lower mid-card throughout the late 90s. Then WCW happened. Because pop star Prince's renaming of himself was so wacky and newsworthy, WCW did the same with their Prince, albeit six years later, and TAFKAPI was born. It took a decently talented worker and turned him into a comedy character, and any chance to ever be taken seriously by fans was tossed out the window.
