He's demented and dangerous, hearing voices in his head that tell him to do terrible, terrible things. Truth is though, he doesn't hear voices. Sure, he's a psychopath, but he doesn't have actual paranoid schizophrenia. It's scarier than that, he's just ruthless. He's had a relative luxurious upbringing, and suffered no real trauma in his life. In fact, everything's worked out just fine for him genetically. He simply came to realise that morals are a mirage, a mere illusion. He sees an emptiness at the heart of every man, woman and child, and therefore sees no problem in causing whatever suffering he can. To get what he wants, he feels no qualms about manipulating those around him, or ruining the lives of those who get in his way. He has no remorse, and never will.
