20 DUMB WWE Gimmick Changes (That We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS)

9. Too Cool Defy The Odds

Vince Russo's original idea for Too Cool was to create an anti-Hardy Boys act that'd be totally uncool. The then-WWF writer enlisted Scott Taylor and Brian Christopher, tweaked their pre-existing Too Much name and BOOM! Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay were thrust into the world kicking and screaming.

Look at those names! Hotty and Sexay should've been booed out of the building, but fans loved the bucket hats, goofy goggles and ridiculous dance moves. People were even more into Too Cool when the thong-wearing Rikishi was added to the lineup. Together, Too Cool enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame as a red hot babyface gimmick through much of 2000.

That was an accidental byproduct of Russo's change up. Nobody was complaining. Too Cool seemed destined for the 'X Horrible WWE Gimmick Changes' list treatment for decades to come, but no - it's fondly recalled as one of the best gimmicks of the time.

Also, the group had not one but two banging themes.
