20 DUMB WWE Gimmick Changes (That We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS)

5. Damien Mizdow

Playing a hammy stunt double defo would've tanked in the wrong hands, but Damian Sandow needed something light and fun following his failure as the ‘Intellectual Saviour Of The Masses’. Rather than get the petted lip and bemoan his Money In The Bank flop, Sandow embraced the chance to become The Miz's stand in.

How he and Miz kept a straight face is beyond everyone, because Damian was superb here. He'd wear toy replicas of Miz's titles, take bumps at ringside when his leading man was working matches, and generally did everything in his power to get fans onside and show WWE he was a team player.

It ruled, but it seemed like a naff concept when Mizdow first popped up. That name alone sounded crap and didn't make much sense. Shouldn't he have been called The Miz too? Nope. Damian Mizdow played on the old Sandow name well, and the dude turned the gimmick into something more than it deserved to be.

What a guy.
