20 ECW Easter Eggs, References And In-Jokes You Never Noticed
9. Not Just The Coolest...Not Just The Best...He's PG-187?!?!
The story of Pete Polaco's professional wrestling career is quite impressive and involves a number of incredibly bizarre moments. Going from PJ Walker enhancement talent to "Portuguese Man of War" Aldo Montoya in the WWF was his first journey, one that around 1996 evolved in a strange direction. The relationship between ECW and the WWF is truly intriguing when one considers the short-lived feud between ECW and WWF's then developmental relationship with Memphis, Tennessee's USWA. The USWA was the evolution of the famed CWA, the 70s and 80s promotion run by Jerry Jarrett, that by the mid-90s was owned by, yes, WWF wrestler and commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler. Thus, the idea that the former "Portuguese Man of War" Montoya would fall out of favor with WWF bookers, and then head to the Memphis developmental area to get bookings makes sense. The idea that while down there he was repackaged as "PG-187," a third member of PG-13 makes sense. PG-13 taking a USWA feud with ECW from Memphis to Philadelphia (and PG-187 tagging along) makes sense. PG-187 being such a great in-ring talent that he fell into favor with ECW booker Paul Heyman is logical, and Heyman eventually morphing PG-187 into "Justin Credible" starts an amazing story of a run that defined Pete Polaco's wrestling career. But if you want a wacky easter egg? Check out "ECW Representative" PG-187 versus "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher from the USWA. All of the "Justin Credible" mannerisms are there, and he's just a push away from truly arguably being one of wrestling's most dependably great in-ring stars of the Attitude Era. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OKWYFHMwp8
