15. Jerry Lawler Recreates His Beef With Andy Kaufman Man On The Moon (1999)
Jim Carrey was extremely intense about his portrayal of comedic legend Andy Kaufman during the filming of 1999s Man On The Moon. He would show up to the set already dressed as Kaufman, nobody was allowed to refer to him as Jim and he did everything in his power to make the character authentic. This includes getting into several altercations with Jerry The King Lawler who famously fought with the real Andy Kaufman during the early 80s. In the film Andy goes on the David Letterman Show to apologize to Lawler. The apology backfires as Andy gets slapped by Lawler. Andy then proceeds to throw hot coffee at him. Side note: if you're interested in the back-story of the Lawler and Kaufman rivalry, then you should listen to the two part Steve Austin podcast with Lawler as a guest. Great behind-the-scenes insight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wpGttPSHdE
