James Fullington still makes appearances these days on the Independent circuit as ECW’s beer drinking Hardcore Icon 'The Sandman', raising hell with his signature Singapore cane.

The Sandman was like royalty in the land of extreme, with the character famous for an insane toughness in barbed wire skirmishes, becoming a five-time World Heavyweight Champion and facing Sabu in the barbaric inaugural Stairway to Hell match.

Entering through the crowd, caning anyone in sight, The Sandman went on to become a fairly popular figure in the early days of WWE’s ill-fated ECW revival. During this time, he notably main evented the 2005 One Night Stand event alongside Tommy Dreamer and The Dudley Boyz. In addition, he featured in ECW’s WrestleMania debut teaming with fellow ECW Originals Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Dreamer, against the New Breed at ‘Mania 23.

He even almost became Raw General Manager towards the end of his WWE tenure, last eliminated by William Regal in a 2007 battle royal on Raw.

The Sandman would be out for battle royal retribution in this gimmick gathering, bringing the element of extreme with him.
