20 Former WWE Stars Who Should Enter A Gimmick Battle Royal At WrestleMania 37
16. The Boogeyman
This list could be filled top to bottom with SmackDown superstars from the Ruthless Aggression Era, as the blue brand had a tendency to roll out some of the most outlandish gimmicks during this period.
Towards the end of 2005, The Boogeyman appeared on our television screens and in Teddy Long’s nightmares, as a worm-eating, manically laughing monster, who smashed alarm clocks over his head. He also possessed the tamest Pumphandle Slam you will ever see as his finishing move.
From face value, The Boogeyman was a bloated and unsuccessful attempt at manufacturing 'spooky' nonsense, making him a complete waste of fans precious time. However, the man behind the face paint, Marty Wright, had a fairly interesting journey behind him. He was cut from Tough Enough 2004 when he admitted to being 40 years old (too old to compete; the cut off age was 35), yet was invited back to OVW training soon after. Ultimately, The Boogeyman is best remebered for the time he ate growth off Jillian Hall’s face during a feud with JBL, a moment which made for disgustingly uncomfortable viewing.
If ever WWE wanted to create a poor man’s version of Papa Shango, this was it, and that makes The Boogeyman overqualified for a ‘Mania Gimmick Battle Royal.
