11. Zach Gowen

Zach Gowen was only 20 when he debuted in WWE, but as a one-legged cancer survivor, the company knew they had a ready-made underdog. Unfortunately, Gowen was pushed too hard and too soon, and fans lost interest during his feuds with Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar. He developed addiction issues and reportedly had a bad attitude, and in 2004, he was released from the company.

Gowen never gave up, though, and in the years since his firing, the 33-year-old has improved by leaps and bounds. He's also overcome his demons. His work across a variety of independent promotions has earned him a great deal of praise, and if he gets re-signed, a wiser Gowen and more judicious booking could lead to success.

The star is also currently receiving some attention in the mainstream media, as he recently competed on American Ninja Warrior. The show features an ultra-difficult obstacle course through which contestants must navigate, and Gowen's disability made his attempt all the more inspiring. Though he didn't complete the course, his impressive showing has earned him another 15 minutes of fame. WWE would be wise to strike while the iron is hot.
