20 Former WWE Stars Who Should Return For Brand Split 2016

5. MVP

MVP debuted on Smackdown in 2006 and before long, he made a huge impact. He won the United States Championship from Chris Benoit and proceeded to hold it for nearly a year, and during that reign, a partnership with Matt Hardy produced a run with the WWE Tag Team Titles. Like most of the stars on this list, though, bad booking cost him momentum. A losing streak gimmick did him no favors, and even another U.S. Title run and a face turn didn't help him. In 2010, he requested his release from WWE.

MVP then started working for New Japan Pro Wrestling, becoming the first-ever IWGP Intercontinental Champion. He stayed with the group for two years, then joined TNA for a run. An association with Lucha Underground ended prematurely, and MVP is available again.

When he left WWE, the rumor was that the door was open for an eventual return. If the company is looking for former stars, MVP should be at the top of the list. His work in WWE was always top notch, and the thought of him tearing it up with some of the stars of the new era is too attractive to pass up.
