20 Former WWE Stars Who Should Return For Brand Split 2016

15. Joey Mercury

Unlike almost every other star on this list, Joey Mercury already works for WWE. He's been a producer for the company for the last several years, and from 2014 to 2015, he and Jamie Noble made a return to TV as Seth Rollins's bodyguards, J&J Security. They were largely cannon fodder for Rollins's babyface opponents.

During Mercury's original run with the company, though, he was one of the best workers in WWE. As part of MNM, he and Johnny Nitro became three-time WWE Tag Team Champions, and while Nitro always seemed to be the more pushed of the pair (and was considered a future star), Mercury was the ring general. When the team split, Mercury was never pushed, but his matches were still excellent.

Though he debuted nearly 20 years ago, Mercury is still a month shy of his 37th birthday. His run last year showed that he's still capable of taking the bumps associated with pro wrestling, and odds are he still knows what it takes to make a great match. Though the J&J gimmick damaged his credibility, introducing him under a mask would solve that problem.
