The Mega Powers are one of the most successful duos in WWE history, despite only wrestling a few matches together as a team. Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage initially joined forces in a memorable moment when The Honky Tonk Man and The Hart Foundation put a beatdown on Savage, and threatened to do the same to Miss Elizabeth. Luckily, Hogan saved the day and an iconic wrestling bromance known as The Mega Powers was born. The two had each others backs as they battled The Million Dollar Man and Andre The Giant. Savage won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 4 in part due to Hogans help, and they later teamed up at SummerSlam to put the Mega Bucks away. This was the team to end all teams. Hogan was the unstoppable good guy, and Savage was his charismatic and high-flying partner. Everything about the pairing was memorable. From their matching attire to their distinct handshake. They could have run the WWF for years. All was not good, though, as Savage became deeply distrustful of his partner. He believed he had questionable intentions towards his manager Elizabeth. He lost it, and attacked Hogan backstage on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. The Mega Powers exploded, and battled at WrestleMania V. They did come to peace before they both left the WWF, and later joined forces once more in the NWO in WCW. Besides being an incredibly entertaining tag team, the two were good friends in real life for some time. They hung out, lifted weights together, and went over storylines together at all hours of the night (according to Hogan). Something ended up tearing them apart, but when they were united, it was pure gold. The bond between these two was so memorable, that over 25 years after they last tagged in a WWF ring, the company stuck Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow together to emulate them. Imagine in 2040 the company doing something similar with The Shield. For any fan who saw those two in their peak, they'll never forget the amazing things that happened when they teamed. They remain the greatest bromance the sport of professional wrestling has ever seen. Dig it?
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
