20 Greatest Wrestling Documentaries Ever
14. ESPN E:60 Behind The Curtain (NXT, 2015)
Another ESPN-produced film that merits a watch looks in-depth at WWE's NXT system.
Triple H is one of the main characters the directors focus on, although he's intriguingly treated more like a retired ex-wrestler than someone who is still currently active. That's an interesting design choice, because it didn't exactly need to be taken.
It nonetheless doesn't hurt the film, because WWE were willing to peel back the curtain (hence the title) and show a little bit more than they normally would. Short segments such as Triple H talking over Bray Wyatt's entrance with him, and even The Ascension going over details of matches are shown.
One of the lead stories revolves around Adam Rose, who reveals that his son requires a feeding tube due to abdominal problems. It's hard not to root for Rose after seeing such footage, especially when he says he only wants to make it in order to give his son a better life.
All in all, Behind The Curtain is an excellent companion piece to existing NXT programming. It does a wonderful job of showing the often cut-throat WWE system.
