A battle between to iconic wrestling families, the match between Charlotte and Natalya at NXT TakeOver was about more than the brand's woman's title; it was about preserving and enhancing the legacies of their respective kin.

Charlotte was accompanied to the ring by her father Ric Flair for the most significant match of her career, but Natalya did not come alone. The Queen of Harts was accompanied by her uncle, Bret "Hitman" Hart.

With those two legends at ringside, the women sought to show the world that they could not only deliver a match that would make those two Hall of Fame Superstars proud but, also, set the bar for every women's match that would come after it.

They did, delivering a match full of counters and reversals, not to mention raw emotion. Late in the bout, Charlotte trapped Natalya in a Figure Four. Rather than tapping out in predictable fashion, the third-generation Hart initiated a slap fight.

From there, the competitors continued reversing and countering each other's before Charlotte was able to deliver Natural Selection for the pinfall victory.

Mutual signs of expect were exchanged between the wrestlers and their relatives, and rightfully so. The contest changed perceptions about women's wrestling and what it could be under the WWE umbrella.

No longer looked at as "a good match for two chicks", it was celebrated for being a great match regardless of the gender of the combatants involved.
