The return from the quad injury was hyped up as a huge deal in January 2002 because we hadn't seen since the injury in May 2001. His ovation that night in Madison Square Garden was massive as he went to the ring and beat up Kurt Angle. He went on to win the Royal Rumble (the only time he did that) and then he became WWE Champion once again at WrestleMania 18.
