It doesn't feel controversial to say that the overwhelming majority of John Cena's Farewell Tour has fallen drastically short of expectations. Everyone knows Cena's in-ring work has seen a pretty steep decline, but with his retirement run announced seven months before it began, fans understandably expected a better story than the one that has played out across 2025.

Thank God, then, for AJ Styles.

With the sun setting on his own career, AJ brought the best out of John Cena to provide a match that can stand amongst the best that Cena has ever had. This Crown Jewel match, played out before an adoring Aussie audience, was a love letter that encompassed everything great about their historic rivalry and their entire in-ring careers in one fell swoop.

Cena set the tone by providing ring announcer Alicia Taylor with a bespoke entrance, hailing Styles as "the leader of The Bullet Club," and the momentum didn't stop from there. Through a slew of finishing moves being delivered to one another from Cena and Styles' most acclaimed opponents, this match provided the perfect ending to their incredible rivalry, and arguably the only one-on-one match of John Cena's Farewell Tour that was befitting of the occasion.
