The Hulkster left WWE in 2003. Things weren't going great for him because the Mr. America character he was doing was a failure and his regular persona was getting old. During his time away from WWE, it even looked like he was going to TNA because he did an angle with them. That didn't lead to anything significant because he was always drawn to WWE, so when it was announced that he would be inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame in 2005 that meant a likely appearance at WrestleMania 21 as well. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7ssy1_wwe-wrestlemania-21-hulk-hogan-retu_sport We didn't know when he might show up on that show, but when poor Eugene was in the ring getting verbally berated by Muhammad Hassan and Daivari, that's when the music of Hulk Hogan hit. Hogan did all of his usual things as he beat up the heels that deserved what was coming to them. It was one of the loudest ovations he received in his legendary career and led to his return to WWE through the summer that year.
