The Rock v John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII was a match a year in the making, as the challenge was set the night after the previous years WrestleMania and WWE had twelve months to prepare for a once in a lifetime match. For both men, it seemed to be their most personal feud, as it was born out of real life comments both men made years earlier, and The Rock tapped into a very real growing frustration around John Cena. Like most WrestleMania matches, it was a back-and-forth contest filled with near-falls, but when John Cena got a bit too cocky it cost him the win. The Rock has always been someone capable of holding the crowd in the palm of his hands, and following his victory, his hometown Miami faithful went crazy for The Great One, as he celebrated his first WrestleMania victory in nine years.
