The logical blow-off to the Ramon/Goldust feud that began in the final weeks of 1995 was to have been a 'Miami Street Fight', where perhaps Ramon bludgeons Goldust into oblivion for all of his unrequited passes. Instead, Goldust faced a returning Rowdy Roddy Piper in a 'Hollywood Backlot Brawl' with Ramon sitting home on a six-week suspension for a drug test failure. While a marijuana-related infraction could have been easily swept under the rug, McMahon's justification for the suspension ran deeper. In February 1996, the real-life Scott Hall gave his notice, announcing that he had signed with WCW, a deal that would officially take effect in May. McMahon sent Hall home, depriving him of a WrestleMania payoff out of spite.
