3. The First WrestleMania Didn't Have The WWE Title On The Line
It seems astonishing now, but the very first WrestleMania didn't even have a WWE Championship match. Instead, the big draw was built around the use of celebrities, with Mr T partnering Hulk Hogan against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff in the main event. The irony is that every Mania since has been predominantly been promoted around a challenger for the WWE Title. It is what Mania is all about, particularly since the Royal Rumble tie-in that started in the 90's. Mania 1 was actually a huge risk for Vince McMahon. If it had failed, the whole company would have been finished. It is crazy that he didn't utilise the championship prop on such an important show.
