Controversy: Either bomb threats or terrible ticket sales, depending on who you believe, forcing a last-minute change of venue Through the years, wrestling promotions have had to move shows, or cancel them altogether, for a myriad of reasons. Usually, it's low ticket sales, and the show will be moved to a smaller venue in the same, or neighboring, city. Initially, WrestleMania 7 was going to held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It would have been the first outdoor WrestleMania in history, and probably would have topped the 100,000 fans mark had it been able to sell out. Suddenly, the WWF announced that Mania would instead be taking place in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, a venue that features less than one-fifth the capacity, and was right next door to the Coliseum. The company made it known that security threats forced the venue change. Basically, they were telling people that there was so much heat on the Sgt. Slaughter heel character in the wake of the war and tensions in the Middle East that the Coliseum had been receiving bomb threats. In actuality, it was early-1991, and there simply weren't going to be 100,000+ people buying tickets to watch the show. The announced "security threats" created a lot of buzz in the event, with people now wanting to tune in and see how things would play out in the main event. It could be considered a "win" for the company in that regard.
