If you're trying to intimidate someone like The Undertaker, you'd better look like a walking stand-in for actual hellfire and brimstone when you come through the curtain. And Kane did not disappoint.
When he originally debuted, Kane already had a legendary appearance. Not only was he more massive than his "brother", but the near-full bodysuit accentuated that mass in a truly terrifying way. It wasn't just the studded leather or those seriously amazing flame designs, but it was the whole package together. And the one-armed look sold the idea that a large portion of his body had been burned, and he was showcasing the one portion of skin that was unaffected.
