12. Rowdy Roddy Piper
When Roddy Piper got down to the business of beating people up, he was as ruthless as they come and couldn't care less about looking pretty. That's why he typically wrestled in navy blue trunks and boots that were ugly as all hell. He didn't want you to be distracted from the pummeling he was dishing out by sparkly wristbands.
But when Piper got on the mic, he had a much different vibe. Despite his abrasive personality, there was always a bit of flair to his promos. So wearing a kilt was the perfect way to accentuate both of those personality traits. He was practically begging his opponents to say something about his "skirt" so he could go off on them.
Although Piper wasn't actually Scottish (he was Canadian), no other wrestler could have made the kilt as ubiquitous as ol' Hot Rod.
