20 Most Overdue WWE Hall Of Fame Inductions

3. Rick Rude

The Ravishing One was one of wrestling's true heels: a slimy, smarmy jerk who claimed to have the world's most perfect body, and he wasn't even wrong. His flamboyantly awful persona made him the sort of person fans loved to hate, and he was no slouch in the ring, either. He wrestled circles around opponents as Intercontinental champ in the WWF as well as the centerpiece of WCW's Dangerous Alliance. A nasty back injury cut his in-ring career short, but Rude continued to be a player in major promotions until his untimely death in 1999.

Why He's Not In: His pedigree and legacy are unassailable, so my best guess is that politics have so far kept Rude from his rightful place. He famously appeared on Raw and Nitro on the same night, a stunt that reportedly infuriated Vince McMahon. Given that McMahon has thus far found it in his heart to forgive similar betrayals from Randy Savage; Madusa and the Ultimate Warrior, smart money would place the Ravishing One in the Hall sooner than later.
