20 Most Popular Wrestlers Of 2014 (According To Google Metrics)

1. The Rock, -2.0% Decrease From 2013

Just like his WrestleMania 29 opponent, The Rock finds a slight dip in popularity. Again, we'd attribute it to not featuring in WWE's WrestleMania main event. Instead, the only WWE involvement we've seen from The Rock this year, was his surprise appearance alongside Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin during Mania 30's opening segment. However, The Rock is still WWE's most googled name. Only Floyd Mayweather can claim to have more searches in the overall UFC / WWE / Boxing google metrics. Still, what we must consider, is that The Rock also has a string of blockbuster movies that will also be rocketing his brand up the popularity scale. People will be searching him out based more on his performance in Hercules than any real WWE connotations. So really, you could argue that John Cena should be considered WWE's biggest name on google. In conclusion, what we can say about google's WWE metrics, is that the company needs to create new stars. Cena has been around forever and other names in the top ten are at best part-timers. Daniel Bryan has made a dent, but even if he had stayed fit, he probably had reached his plateau. The signs are encouraging for Roman Reigns who is 394.1% up on last year. He has to be WWE's one big hope for a bold new vision in 2015.
